GHRP-2 (5mg)

GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogue that acts as an agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1a, the ghrelin receptor) and, at higher concentrations, at CD36 receptors. It is one of the original and most potent GHRPs developed, producing strong, dose-dependent GH release in preclinical models and serving as a primary reference compound in growth hormone secretagogue pharmacology.

GHRP-2 Research Background

GH secretion: GHRP-2 is among the most potent GHSR-1a agonists characterised. Research has documented robust GH release in rodent and primate models, with dose-response studies establishing its potency relative to other GHRPs. Unlike Ipamorelin, GHRP-2 also stimulates modest cortisol and prolactin elevation at research doses — a distinction relevant to protocol design.

Cardioprotective research: GHRP-2 has been studied beyond GH secretion in models of cardiac injury. Research has examined GHRP-2’s anti-apoptotic and cardioprotective effects in rodent models of ischaemia-reperfusion injury, documenting reduced cardiomyocyte death and improved cardiac function — effects attributed to GHSR-independent mechanisms involving CD36 receptor activation.

Anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective research: Studies have examined GHRP-2 in models of liver injury and inflammation, with research documenting hepatoprotective effects in models of toxic liver damage and modulatory effects on inflammatory cytokine profiles.

GHRP-2 vs Ipamorelin: The primary research distinction is selectivity. GHRP-2 produces stronger GH release but also stimulates cortisol and prolactin elevation. Ipamorelin’s selectivity profile (GH release without significant cortisol/prolactin effect) makes it preferable for protocols requiring clean GH stimulation. GHRP-2 is preferred when maximum GH secretagogue potency is the research objective.
